“‘Happily ever after’ is not by chance. It’s by choice.”
The Gottman Institute

Great relationships don’t just happen by accident! They are made by purposefully learning and growing together. These workshops seek to strengthen and empower partners and families. Their foundation comes from the Gottman Institute’s goals: helping deepen friendship, appropriately manage conflict, and create shared meaning and purpose.

These workshops are a great option for couples who:

  • Feel like their relationship is generally good but could improve, even a little.

  • Want to build a stronger foundation for their relationship.

  • Feel like they could use tips and tricks to implement easily.

  • Would like to feel more prepared for a big upcoming transition in their relationship (like getting married or welcoming a new baby).

Please note that these workshops are psychoeducation and not psychotherapy; they are not the right fit if you have more significant relationship difficulties.

Premarital Prep: a workshop for engaged couples

Workshop length: 30-45 minutes or 2 hours

This workshop is inspired by the Gottman Institute’s research on couple relationships. Through lectures and exercises (done just between you and your partner; no group sharing here!), we will cover topics on friendship and intimacy, conflict and communication, and creating a sense of meaning in your partnership with a specific focus on how to go from Me to We with confidence and joy. Note that both partners are expected to attend.

Partners to Parents: a workshop for new parents

Workshop length: 30-45 minutes or 2 hours

This workshop is designed for expecting and new (first trimester postpartum) first-time parents. It is inspired by the Gottman Institute’s extensive research on the transition to parenthood and the Bringing Baby Home program. Research shows that 67% of couples see a decrease in relationship satisfaction when they bring baby home. This workshop is designed to help reverse that drop!

This is a relationship-centered workshop, focusing on your partnership as you become parents (through pregnancy, surrogacy, or adoption). The 30-45 minute session is appropriate for parent education and support groups (like PEPS or TAPS) and allows time for Q&A; both/all parents are encouraged but not required to attend. The 2 hour workshop is more interactive and both/all parents are expected to attend.
